Everything you need to know about using AIKYEM.
New to AIKYEM or stuck on something? Start here. If you can’t find your answer, the Contact Us page reaches us directly.
What is AIKYEM?
AIKYEM lets neighbors pool demand for the same thing into a single group buy, so everyone can unlock a better price together. Instead of buying alone, you post what you want, gather a group of nearby people who want it too, and approach a seller as one larger, committed order.
What is an intent?
An intent is something you want to buy — a product, subscription, service, or experience — posted so others nearby can join in. It includes the item, a target number of buyers, an optional price, and an optional buy window (the date you’re aiming to purchase by). When enough people join, the group can negotiate as one.
What does “alpha” mean?
The alpha is the person who started the intent. They set the target and price, coordinate the group, run polls and pin key messages in the discussion, and decide when the group is ready to go live. Being the alpha is just a role — it doesn’t make you a seller, and AIKYEM never handles anyone’s money.
How does a group buy work, start to finish?
Someone posts an intent and becomes its alpha. Neighbors nearby discover it and join. As people join, the group fills toward its target. Once it hits the target, the intent moves from forming to negotiating, and the group works out terms with a seller. When the deal is set, the alpha pushes it live, and each member completes their own purchase with the seller directly.
How do I create an intent?
Tap Post intent, then add the item, a short description, a category, your target number of buyers, and (optionally) a price, buy window, and photo. Once posted, you’re the alpha, and you’re automatically counted as the first member.
How do I join a group?
Open any intent within your reach and tap Join. You’ll be added to the group and can follow the discussion. You can leave any time before the deal goes live.
I created or joined an intent — what should I do next?
The single most important thing is to grow the group so it reaches its target. An intent only unlocks a better price once enough people commit — so whether you started it or joined it, sharing it helps everyone (a bigger group means a better price for you, too).
Use the Share button on the intent to copy its link, then post it where nearby people who’d want the same thing will see it:
- Nextdoor — your neighborhood feed is the most targeted place to share, since everyone there is local.
- Reddit — your city or town subreddit (for example, r/YourCity), plus any relevant hobby, deal, or buy/sell communities.
- Local Facebook Groups — neighborhood, town, “buy nothing,” and community groups.
- Neighborhood and building chats — WhatsApp, GroupMe, Discord, Slack, HOA lists, or your apartment/building group.
- Word of mouth — text friends and neighbors you know are after the same thing.
Then keep momentum going: answer questions in the discussion, pin the key details (if you’re the alpha), and run a poll when the group needs to decide something. Once you hit the target, the alpha moves the deal forward. Safety note: never send money to an organizer or another member — pay the actual seller directly only when the deal is final. See our Terms of Service for safety guidance.
What do the states — forming, negotiating, live — mean?
Forming means the group is still gathering members. Negotiating means it hit its target and is working out the deal. Live means the deal is committed and members can complete their purchases.
Can I edit or delete my intent, or leave a group?
If you’re the alpha, you can edit your intent’s details (like the target, price, or buy window) and delete the intent entirely. If you joined someone else’s intent, you can leave any time before it goes live — just open the intent and tap Leave.
How do discussions work?
Every intent has a group discussion where members coordinate — asking questions, sharing seller options, and agreeing on details. You can reply to messages to keep threads organized. The alpha can pin one important message to the top so newcomers see it first.
What are polls for?
Polls help the group decide together — for example, which color, size, seller, or pickup day to go with. The alpha creates a poll, and any member can vote for one or more options. It’s the fastest way to turn a long discussion into a clear decision.
How do I find intents near me?
The Explore feed shows group buys within reach, sorted by distance. You can filter by category, sort the results, and search by keyword. If you share your location (or enter a ZIP), we show how far away each intent is.
How is my location used?
Only to show group buys near you and estimate distance. Sharing location is optional, and your coordinates are coarsened to roughly a one-kilometer area, so your exact address is never stored. See our Privacy Policy for details.
My feed looks empty — why?
The feed is distance-based, so it only shows intents whose reach includes your area. If it’s sparse, there may not be active group buys near you yet — which is the perfect reason to post your own and share it (see “What should I do next?” above). You can also widen your view by adjusting your location or ZIP.
Is AIKYEM safe? How do I avoid scams?
AIKYEM is a place to find and coordinate group buys — we’re not a party to any transaction and never handle payments. The most important rule: never send money to anyone you meet on the platform — no deposits, “membership fees,” gift cards, wires, or cryptocurrency to an organizer or member. Pay the real, verifiable seller directly, only when a deal is final. Verify sellers independently, meet in public if you meet in person, and report anything suspicious through Contact Us. Full guidance is in our Terms of Service.
I didn’t get my verification code — what do I do?
Verification and password-reset codes are sent by email. If it hasn’t arrived, check your spam or junk folder, make sure you used the right address, and request a new code. If it still doesn’t come through, reach out via Contact Us.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, choose Forgot password, enter your email, and we’ll send a code to confirm it’s you. Enter the code and set a new password.
How do I change my photo or interests?
Open your profile to add or remove your photo and update your interests any time. Your name and photo are visible to members of groups you join; your email is never shown to other members.
How do I delete my account?
You can request deletion of your account and associated data through the Contact Us page. See our Privacy Policy for what we keep and for how long.
